Welcome to Henry Lootgraab's Blog!
Henry is a computer nerd, a PC hardware enthusiast, a PC gamer and a cyclist. He's been using computers for over 30 years, started with Macs though. He worked in academic IT in the US for over 20 years supporting mostly Mac users and a handful of scientists with weird Linux setups.
Henry has been on the Internet since its beginning, witnessed its birth, since working at a US university exposed him early to the new tech, and he's been on Steam for over 20 years. His preferred platform, for now, is still Windows. He's tired of Macs, understandably, they feel like work and he never liked Apple hardware anyway. He dabbled in Linux since the early days too, but mostly with Debian and Ubuntu servers. He focused some of his attention lately on Linux desktop as a possible alternative to Windows and he hasn't been all that impressed. He'll tell you all about it here, here...oh and here.
Henry is a jaded veteran and tired and annoyed of the runaway enshittifcation of the internet, the computer technology and PC gaming as well as propagation and glorification of stupidity.
He'll be posting some random thoughts and rants here and he does not really expect anyone to read this crap. It's mostly for his own amusement and self reflection. His stuff will be opinionated, sarcastic and often politically incorrect and extremely critical of great many things. However, he stays away from politics, religion, sports and various current "issues".
Disclaimer: Henry never uses any AI/ML assistance to write his stuff. As much as he likes machines, he cherishes his ability to convert his thoughts into written word without the help of machine. A spell checker is all he needs :)
